Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 7, 2026

This privacy policy explains what information is collected when you use the Museum of the Cherokee People’s educator resources website at education.motcp.org (the “site”), and how it is used. The site does not offer user accounts, and you can browse and download all resources without giving us any personal information.

Information you choose to send us

If you use our contact form, we collect the information you enter: your first and last name, email address, phone number (optional), organization or school, and your message. We also record the date and time of your submission and your IP address. This information is stored on the site and emailed to museum staff so we can respond to you. We use it only to reply to your inquiry and to help plan any visit or program you ask about.

The contact form is protected from spam by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks technical signals from your browser to confirm the form is being used by a person. See Cloudflare’s Turnstile privacy addendum.

Website analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how educators use the site so we can improve it: for example, which pages are visited, which lesson plans and activities are viewed or downloaded, which videos are played, and how visitors arrived at the site. Google Analytics uses cookies (small files stored by your browser, such as _ga) to recognize repeat visits. It collects information such as the pages you view, the links you click, your browser and device type, and your approximate location (city or region). Google Analytics does not log or store full IP addresses.

The information we review in Google Analytics is aggregated and does not identify you personally. You can learn more in How Google uses information from sites that use its services. To opt out, you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Embedded videos

Videos on this site are hosted on YouTube. Nothing is loaded from YouTube until you choose to play a video. When you click play, the video loads from YouTube’s privacy-enhanced service (youtube-nocookie.com), and YouTube may then collect information about your viewing under Google’s privacy policy.

Fonts, files, and other services

To display the site and deliver resources, your browser connects to a few third-party services, which receive your IP address and basic browser information as part of any normal web request:

Security and server logs

Like most websites, our hosting provider and our security software automatically record technical information about requests to the site, such as IP addresses, the pages requested, and the date and time. This information is used to keep the site secure, to block malicious traffic, and to diagnose problems.

Children

This site is designed for educators. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the contact form.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
